Here I am after a pretty long "non blog" writing drought...so much for that resolution to blog more! :)
As I write this it is a Friday and this is one of those Friday's that is very deserved. While you are online today, be sure to sign up for a spot at our Conley and Karen Chef's Table Class. If you got to my blog on our website, click on the contest bar that you can see. If not, go to http://www.941kqk.com/ and enter! You can also check out the music on this Class Reunion Weekend on our audio stream, check out Brad's tour of our upcoming new studio, and see footage from our free lunch day at Sole Restaurant downtown. (FYI...Sole is also our Discount Dining Deal partner and you can get a 1/2 price gift certificate to dine there.) Take advantage of all the cool things on our site.
So, I, like many of you, am looking forward to a relaxing weekend. I'll spend some time with my kids, grocery shop (the pantry is near empty so it will be a full cart shopping trip) and maybe I'll even.....gulp......clean the house! UGH!!
Okay, maybe not. :)
Have a great day,
Karen

Things to do in 2009
Okay, I have decided to go ahead and make a list of things to TRY to do in the New Year, I refrain from calling them resolutions. I always tend to break those. So, here is my list of things to do in 2009....
1) Eat healthy...cut back to one (okay, maybe two) soda(s) a week.
2) Be patient....especially with my kids...they won't be young forever.
3) Get organized....not the whole house right away, maybe just a counter, a closet or the spare room to start.
4) Write thank you notes....and many of them.
5) Let as many people as I can know about Classic Hits 94.1 KQK!
6) Set a better example for my kids, using "please" and "thank you" more.
7) Blog more often....maybe even get crazy and finally join Facebook.
8) Remember to take pictures!
Happy New Year!!!

Almost 2009....
So here we are, the days after Christmas....the days just before a new year. Quite a ponderous time.....still surrounded by all things Christmas, trying to dig out from all the stuff......at the same time, ready for a fresh start as we embark on 2009.
Will I make resolutions? I sure could use a few....being healthier, being more patient and trying to be more organized are always a few things I could work on. I am certainly not alone. It's always fun to drive by the spa/gym in the first part of January and notice the full parking lots as EVERYONE has that
New Year/New You mindset.
So here's to saying good-bye to 2008, for me it was a pretty crazy year.
And here's to looking at a prosperous and thinner :) 2009.
Happy New Year to you!!

What did I learn Monday....
Well, the holiday lights are finally up at the Perrin house. All my neighbors were weeks ahead and we looked like a black hole, until this weekend and we joined the throngs of lighted homes. We got crazy this year and added red and green lights to go with the clear. Crazy, I know!! It actually looks alot more festive.
So, Monday night I learned a little something about myself. Let me preface this by saying, I like sports. While I am not really the most athletic person around, I do like to watch them on TV and I love watching my kids do whatever sporting activities they enjoy. That being said, I have enjoyed soccer seasons, cheered my way through t-ball and baseball, even gotten the hang of the rules in inline hockey. However, this season is the first for me as a basketball mom...and let me say, this is a tough one for me. The sport is fine, I even played some in grade school. But as a Mom, it's not for me. I guess there is a reason I am a baseball person...some say it is too slow paced. Not me...I love the often times passive way you can watch a baseball game (and sure it's a bit more stressful to watch when your kid plays infield) but basketball...that's a whole other deal.
How can I describe it.....as a Mom who is a spectator, when your kid is on the court, the fun, fast paced nature of the game becomes much more nerve racking and tense. And my son is only 8!!!!
What must it be like to be related to or invested in someone who plays college or pro ball of any kind. Think about the mom's of all the U of M Tigers basketball players in the NCAA championship game? Or the mom of any field goal kicker in any football league....and again, I know, I know..... my son is only 8. And we all know in our hearts, the point is not if he wins, or makes that basket, or hits his free throw shot. It's all about him having fun. And that's all he will hear from me.
But inside, I'll be all in knots, hoping he can break out of the pack, find a guy to pass to, or just simply just not walk or double dribble. :)

Hello Again....
Hi, I haven't posted in a while and just wanted to say all is well at Classic Hits 94.1. I did have today (the day after Thanksgiving) off from work and I did a little shopping. I called in for a break with my buddy Steve Conley. Like I told him, I'm not sure how much folks were buying, but at least there sure were alot looking. Quite the shopping day for sure. Every store I went to was jammed and the stores were ready for the crowds. And just for the record, I did my part for the economy and shopped plenty!!! Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's really time get serious with the shopping.
All my neighbors have their lights up. Not the Perrin family yet. Soon though....in a day or two I guess. :)

Karen Perrin Memphis radio, FM 100 to Classic Hits 94.1 KQK
Well, here I continue to write on my old blog as we wait patiently for the new WKQK Classic Hits website to hit the internet. Kind of frustrating that they made all the on air changes so quickly but can't seem to get the website up, but alas that is sometimes the way things go. :)
As I write this, it is election day. I did not early vote. I went at lunch today. I heard all kinds of horror stories about how long the lines might be.
I waited 8 minutes.
No, that is not a typo....eight.....8......one more than 7 but less than 9....yes, 8 minutes!! True, if my name started with an A-D, my wait would have been longer...but not for me Karen Perrin.....it was good to have a last name with "P" today. Who did I vote for....none of your d*%# business, but I voted. :)
So, back to work talk...... Steve Conley and I have been reunited for some time now on my new station, Classic Hits 94.1. (I'd love to hear from you and know what you think. you can email me at karen@941kqk.com and you can listen on line at www.941kqk.com .....full website to launch soon!!! ) People seem to love the music...no matter if they are in their 20's all the way up to 60's and beyond. It's fun, upbeat music that reminds me of what we played on those Whatever Weekends we did at FM 100 for years.
Anyway, I enjoy working with Steve, but I sure miss Ron and Brett too. I know they are doing fine, I just don't see them for 5-6 hours a day like I did for years. Now I just look at Steve's mug across the table. :) He looks just the same as he did two years ago before he "left" FM 100.
Go vote if you haven't yet and you read this on election day.
