LeBonheur Radiothon!

The 2008 LeBonheur Radiothon is now complete.
Thanks so much for all who took time to donate or volunteer their time. Thanks to all of you who listened to us share the virtues of this community asset here in Memphis. We are so fortunate to have a children's hospital in our area. We met so many amazing people, among them young Wesley. He was in one day for an outpatient same day procedure and his dad got us this photo.
More pictures to come this week on our website. If you want to find out more about incredible work that LeBonheur Children's Medical Center is embarking on, please go to the website at www.lebonheur.org
Have a great week....I am outta here!!!

It is this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, FM 100 embarks upon our LeBonheur Radiothon. We invite you to listen and learn about all the work that is done by this medical center in our community and region. This comes from the LeBonheur website so you can get an understanding of just a little bit of what they do.....find out more at http://www.lebonheur.org/

Attention Golfers!

Okay, golfers, it's time to unite and have some fun with FM 100.

Do I play golf, my goodness no! I have tried it once or twice, even playing in a scramble where we actually used one of my shots....go figure! But no, it is not a game I have the patience for. I guess I should play. Those who do (like my husband and my co-worker Ron) seem to derive an odd amount of pleasure from the "sport." I find sheer and utter frustration in the game. I have only played twice. It appears those who play even more often....for years even...have that same level of discontent, aggravation, dissatisfaction and puzzlement surrounding the game.

However, I digress......you have an opportunity to play what some call the greatest game ever played and you have a chance to play that game with Ron...is that a big deal or honor????? I don't know now that I think about it! :)

It's been a busy time here at FM 100....among the activities....last week's Make A Wish Golf tournament. Here is a picture of Ron and me before the tourney.

Coming up this week, Ron and I will sing along with all of the Memphis Redbirds fans Thursday night, July 3rd. We'll be on the field during the 7th inning stretch belting out Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Ron has a little time left to learn the words!!
Then of course on Friday, July 4th it's a Memphis tradition, the Star Spangled Celebration with FM 100 in Tom Lee Park. All the details back on our home page at fm100memphis.com!!

Weekend Magazine

Some of you may know that along with my co-hosting duties on the FM 100 Morning Show with Ron Olson, I also have a weekend public affairs program. It is oh-so originally called The Weekend Magazine....
yeah, crazy name I know....but it does feature fun, informative guests. Some guests are nationally known authors and speakers, others have local connections and we talk about all things Memphis.

This week, my guests are from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis. You can find out more on their website, www.bgcm.org

I pulled this straight off their website so you could read about what they do here in our area. "Since 1962, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis has offered leadership and support to thousands of youth ages 7 - 17. Through one-to-one interaction with trained adult staff, Club members learn to make positive decisions about their lives. They do better in school, stay away from drugs and gangs and begin to set personal goals for themselves, which ultimately helps them be responsible citizens of our community."

So, in case you are up early to listen, the show airs on FM 100 (99.7) at 6:00am. In the coming weeks, topics will include nutrition, LeBonheur Children's Medical Center, Education, the Pink Palace, as well as some authors from fun books. If you have any suggestions or show ideas for Weekend Magazine, feel free to email me at kperrin@fm100memphis.com

Have a great weekend,

K
